The Great Bodhidharma, Chi Kung (Qigong) and Yoga
In Chi Kung & Yoga the philosophy, methodology and results are similar, in that they managing energy and spirit for health, vitality, longevity and enhance spiritual development.
Although there is no concrete evidence, it is strongly believe that the Eighteen Lohan Hands taught by the Great Bodhidharma were from yoga and that the Bodhidharma modified some of Lohan exercises to suit the needs of the Shaolin monks.
In the 18 Lohan Art exercises, particularly in the Eight Pieces of Brocades, we can see the close similarities of Hatha Yoga in these Lohan Arts.
From the 18 Lohan Arts, we later see the development of the 18 Lohan Hands. Currently these 18 Lohan hands and Hatha Yoga have similar functions that encourage health & vitality, what then follows is energy control and at the highest degree one would strive to liberate spirit.
Chi Kung (Qigong) literally means Energy Art or the Art of developing energy, the Indians call it ‘Yoga’, the Tibetans ‘Wisdom Art’ and the Ancient Greeks & Egyptians, ’The Mystery Art’.
There are three degrees of classification;
-The basic level deals with, good health, vitality and longevity.
-The middle level deals with, internal force & mental clarity for peak performance
-The highest level deals with, Spiritual cultivation, expansion into the Cosmos and unity with Brahma, God, the Holy Spirit. Great Spirit, the Void etc.
Genuine Chi Kung is not a gentle physical exercise that only works on physical form, it integrates in practice energy and mind. Gentle physical exercise only works at the physical level that has some uses for bones, circulation, muscles and joints.
Many people today think that they practice Chi Kung when actually they only practice gentle physical exercise. We may get better benefits if we go for a swim, cycle or even jog once a day. Triple cultivation or Genuine Chi Kung will enhance not just the physical benefits for great health, vitality and mind clarity, it will also encourage cultivation of the spirit.

Homeopathy a Holistic Approach
Homeopathy is a complimentary therapy and uses a holistic approach. It is holistic because Homeopaths look at each persons mind, body and emotions when they are in consultation. Each session gives the Homeopath a good overall picture of the client and during each session the Homeopath then fits the remedy according to each persons symptoms.
Homeopathy and the principle of ‘like treats like’
The concept of ‘Like treats Like’ is more well known as ‘Like cures Like’ and this concept is largely inspired by the great Greek Physician and ‘Father of Medicine’, Hippocrates.
“By similar things a disease is produced and through the application of the like is cured”. Hippocrates (460-377 BC), ‘Father of Medicine’.
Homeopaths treat clients according to their ‘symptom picture’. To understand each clients symptom picture the Homeopath takes a detailed case of each person and matches the remedy according to the mental, emotional or physical symptoms that are apparent at the time in the consultation.
As an example, each remedy has an individual profile similar to that of each person.
The Homeopath then matches the remedy and person symptom profile and gives a homeopathic dose that encourages the body’s systems to rebalance.
This is where the principle of ‘Like treats Like’, comes from and this system of complementary medicine was devised by a German Physician Dr Samuel Hahnemann. His original intention for creating Homeopathy was to find a system of treatment to reduce harmful side effects to his patients.
The aim of Homeopathy is to stimulate the natural body’s systems that rebalance the mind, body and emotions. The remedies given by a Homeopath are specific to each person and the potencies can vary according to the pathology of each individual.
Through 200 years of practice and observation the Homeopathic remedy kit has expanded to over 3000 usable remedies. It is estimated about 6million people in the UK use Homeopathy, and 100million in Europe. Of the 42 countries in Europe Homeopathy is practiced in 40.
People of all ages seek homeopathy for a myriad of reasons.
